You can make sets on shopstyle.com!

Sites are starting to jump on the polyvore band wagon. You can now create sets on shopstyle. While Polyvore is a site that is completely dedicated to looks, shopstyle is using it as an add on element to their site. I am a polyvore addict and I love making sets so I was really excited to see that another site was trying to adopt this formula of putting together looks.

I use polyvore a lot for fun, class, and for this blog. The sets are polished and professional. I like the user friendly quality to the site. You can pick a category and choose your looks and create your set as you go. If you want you can add backgrounds and spice up your set. Polyvore is a site that has you publish your sets and show them to a community of people that are also creating sets. I like this because it makes it so easy to get inspired by other people and what they are creating. It keeps that personal and "street" element of the things present.

Shopstyle is new to the sets game and I am sure that they are still working out the kinks of the the creating looks part of the site. On shopstyle I found the selecting of looks a bit difficult. You have to add them to your favorites and then with the items in your favorites you can then create sets. While it was annoying to have to select items for your favorites, it is good to be able to keep a data base of the items you like. I still felt like it took forever having to select looks and then go to a different page to create your set. I feel like it would be more efficient to have these things on the same page side by side. I am not sure if you can add backgrounds, but the looks were simple and not as crazy and creative as polyvore.

I feel like shopstyle is doing a good job at adding a new element to their site. They are expanding and keeping their site fresh and up to date in fashion. I can't wait until they iorn out the kinks. I still suggest checking it out and seeing what's new!

William Rast for Target!

I just had to check it out today. I was curious about fabrics, styles (in person) and price points. The last collection, Mulberry was a pretty big hit because I never saw it! I am guessing they did not have crazy Lanvin for H&M lines, but it sold well. The clothing I notice takes a little longer to move. I really was not too excited about the tops. They were just...tops. I feel like Will Rast does a good job with bottoms and killer leather. Something about this brand just makes me love it! My favorites were the faux leather cuffed shorts, black skinny jeans (good for us long legged girls), and the leather jackets. They are great pieces to add to any wardrobe. The jackets are great. I liked the fringed black leather jacket the most. It is on point with the trends and it is still chic and not to "I'm following a trend". Add Image

I was originally looking forward to the tuxedo blazer, but it is not that versatile. I say get it for an add on piece and dress it up a bit. I suggest checking out the line. The look guides are great on style.mtv.com.

Fashion Pick of the Week!

My favorite look of this week is Olivia Wilde in this floor length Pucci gown at the premiere of her new movie Tron Legacy. She looks divine from head to toe. Olivia has that 70's vibe that we have been seeing on the runways. I love the keyhole detail with her Judith Leiber bag. I think this dress is sexy and great on her skin tone. Her dark features just enhance this look like crazy!

Pre Fall Chanel

The Chanel pre-fall collection is exciting and marvelous. The collection is cohesive and flows perfectly from the beginning to the finale. This collection was clearly inspired by Byzantium and Egyptian styles. Karl uses alluring and rich colors. He plays with golds, reds, greens, and purples. I love the details in the looks with the structuring, buttons and gold accents. The totally gladiator sandals are fun and a sure want for my closet. The confidence in the collection is very much reminiscent of the inspirations. Justinian was not necessarily loved, but his run in Byzantine is known for the blossoming and rebirth of their culture.Egyptians were all about beauty and blues. They are known for living lavish and buried their pharaoh's with gold. These cultures are and were bold and so is Chanel. The thing that I love about Karl are his mind and imagination. He does so much with tweeds, silks, cottons, wools, ect. He keeps Chanel current and classic.

Burberry!!!!

So, I am currently (still) in love with Burberry. I feel like they can do no wrong especially when it comes to Burberry Prorsum! In Harpers Bazaar January 2011 the model Lily Donaldson is modeling the coat of my dreams (see above). Just wanted to say that it is amazing! $7,995 of AMAZING! I am on the hunt for some store to make a knock off and I am thinking a little about DIY!

Messenger Bags!

My favorite bag styles for the fall season are messenger and flap style handbags. They are functional and stylish. The thing I love about this bag style is that you can carry them forever and they are not too big or too small. I personally like my space in a bag, but when its to big it just isn't a love connection.

Living in San Francisco for the past two years and being a fashionista has been a learning experience....from my changing style to my bags. When you are trying to be cute and commute you need to be smart about your accessories. Thought every once in a while functional is not my forte, for the most part go for functional and stylish! You may have to save your pennies, but it is well worth it! Enjoy some of my fav's for city style.
