Men's Wardrobe Basics

Wardrobe basics are a helpful must have. They are basic articles of clothing that can be mixed and matched to coordinate MANY different looks. These few items are a closets base essentials. They are not only good for your closet, but they will have you covered for every situation in life. Theses wardrobe basics are:

1. Black Suit: A basic black suit is needed for possible black tie events. Get a simple suit. Buying something trendy is a no because you only look good as long as the trend. Don't choose anything with velvet or finishes that stand out. It would suck to be that guy in the same velvet suit :)! The perfect suit is durable, made out of good fabric, low key, but pristine.

2. Cotton Button Up: A button up in a classic color is essential for every wardrobe. You can wear it with your suit, jeans, or dress pants.

3. Wool Coat: A simple wool coat will get you through the winter. As long as it is durable you can easily move this coat from look to look.

4. Plaid Button Up Shirt: This is a good essential for casual wear. Plaid adds color and gives your casual wear a little personality. It keeps you casual and current.

5. Suede Boot: This boot is casual and versatile. They are a great shoe for casual and business casual wear.

6. Black Dress Pants: Dress pants are good for any wardrobe for the simple fact of you never know when you will need them. They are good for dates, events, jobs, and landing the job!

7. Dark Denim Jeans: Dark denim is essential for everyone. Dark denim has a finish that on it's own is KILLER! You can wear these jeans with your plaid, button up and boots.

8. Black Dress Shoes: These shoes are basic and stylish. They are not trendy, but in. One pair will get you far.

9.Brown or Black belt: Belts are an essential accessory. Be sure to pick a basic color.

10. Blazer: A blazer can dress up any casual outfit. You can spend the day in the city and throw on a blazer for a gallery opening at night.

These items will make you ready for anything thrown at you!

Platform

I am going to declare the shoe of Spring 2011 as the Platform. The beloved platform has re-surfaced again and even more amazing. It's original appearance was in the 1970's. They were on the feet of men and woman as they jived down the street in style. They were pushed out of the 1980's by punk, hair bands, and street wear. They made a brief appearance in the 1990's (My days!). The Spice Girls made them a quick hit. Today, they are back and more stylish than ever. Fashion designers like Prada (pictured) and Marc Jacobs are making this shoe a big hit again. On runways we saw platforms of all styles and colors. The colors are amazing! One thing the spring is doing is bringing on "change" and taking chances. I like it!

Fashion Pick!

My fashion pick of the day is Zoe Saldana in J. Mendel. Slowly I have realized that J. Mendel is one of the best red carpet dress designers around. Being a girly girl and liking leather I really appreciate the detail in this dress that makes it feminine. The ruffles are a great touch and the unexpected shade of gray make this dress all the more marvelous. I love Zoe's style. This dress and killer Brian Atwood heels make for a fantastic night out!

New Dress Style!!

One of my new favorite trends is to wear flats with evening dresses. This is something that I have been experimenting with for a little bit, but when I saw a photo of a model for Gucci doing the same thing I knew it was at least a trend. For me shoes are a make or break in my attire for the day. I find myself playing more and more with flats for different types of occasions and events. I find wearing flats with an evening dress very quirky and that it lets out a little bit of personality. A rule of mine is to always have fun with what you wear!
