Flatforms

I was on the Neiman Marcus site and I was surprised by the new trend name "Flatforms". The Director of Styling, Darlys Michaelis describes the shoe " With having a platform throughout the sole and very little slope....". I'm a big fan of the platform. Goodbye platform and hello flatform!

Gwyneth Paltrow@ The Oscars

Gwyneth Paltrow is becoming a style icon. She is stunning in the simple low cut metallic Calvin Klein Collection dress. I love the wet look. It is sexy and elegant, perfect for this type of event. She is a shoe queen and is wearing (they are hidden) Brian Atwood gold heels. Her jewelry is by Louis Vuitton.

Women's Wardrobe Basics

Women's wardrobe basic are key in starting the closet to die for. These are the items that you can use to create killer outfits and lasting looks. The quality of these items are important because they are the base of your wardrobe and you could be wearing them often. These items are chosen because they can literally get you through the week and weekend parties just fine. Check out these pieces, compare and see what you need.

1. Little Black Dress:  The perfect black dress fits your body to the T. It is not necessarily trendy, but stylish. Be sure that it is a style, not a fad and that you feel fabulous in it.

2.Black Blazer: Black blazers are a great wardrobe piece because of it's versatility. You can literally wear this for everything.

3.White Button-up Shirt: White button up shirts are great because they are good for the office and they make a good transition into day wear.

4. Black Skirt: The ideal black skirt is at the perfect length and has a classic fit. The black skirt is important because it can get you out of a pinch when you never expect it.

5. Trench Coat/Coat: A trench coat or coat is essential. Be sure to pick a neutral color and a good durable fabric. Get something that will keep you warm and a simple style that will last you.

6. Jeans: Jeans are probably the hardest thing to shop for. Every brand seems to have their own idea of what size fits you. The best thing for jeans is to find a brand that suits you. There is a brand for every body type. Next is to find a good cut and style. Something basic and simple is good to start with.

7. Clutch: A good sized clutch is the perfect party purse. Something sparkling is good and it will add a little extra something to your outfit.

8. Cardigan: A cardigan is good with just about anything. The key is to start with a neutral (black, gray, blue, or tan).

9. Black Dress Pants: dress pants are a need for your wardrobe. The pants are professional and provide a clean and polished look for any situation at the drop of the hat.

10. Cami: Cami's are great! I love them because they give support and add extra color for an outfit. Cami's can also be worn under a blazer for weekend fun. It's a piece that you can throw in at the drop of a hat.

11. Ballerina Flats: Ballerina flats are the go to choice for a comfortable stylish shoe. Perfect with a pair of skinny jeans or a skirt.

Winter Wonderland!

The rain has made me search for the perfect umbrella and rainwear. While the weather is nasty we still need to look sassy. The hard part of being sassy is staying dry! The problem I have most of the time is finding a functional umbrella and rain boot. Before last week I had completely given up on fashionably functional rain wear. I got lucky and seem to have found my dream winter shield!

Here are some umbrellas and boots I have found! Hopefully you enjoy them and find your perfect winter needs!

Jean Paul Gaultier Couture 2011

Gaultier couture is all about woman! The collection is far from spring fashion. He uses traditionally bold color combinations that create drama. His show makes me think of sex, punk style, bondage, beauty and lust. I love how he combines soft and hard looks. It is just badass! He makes the mohawk sexy and re-creates it on different models using different hair techniques and plays with color.  Through out the collection I noticed that he uses different eras of style to create the looks. Some of them are punk, rockabilly, pin up, gang"star", and just down right say "Follow me, I know you want to!"
