Rainbow Lace

Hopefully your Thanksgiving day or weekend was as fun as mine! I enjoy the holidays because of all the time you get to spend with family and friends....and the food! I was lucky this year and spent 4 days relaxing with the people I love. The holidays are a pretty tricky time of the year for us because as much as we love seeing everyone it usually involves an ungodly amount of driving.

This year was a bit different. We did less driving and somehow saw more people! Family time was fun, but I also had to ton of fun hanging out with friends and doing a little shopping. :) This was a weekend to remember and I think that I found a new shopping buddy! I am truly thankful for all of the people in my life.

The photos in this post are pretty special to me. They were taken at my lovely mother's house. This is where I grew up and it was easy for me to get into picture mode. The shoot was just comfortable and completely fun. Also, I am wearing some of my favorites (top and skirt). We're hoping Christmas comes with at least half the fun of Thanksgiving!

Candy Cane

It's officially christmas time and I am so excited! Generally this is a pretty fun part of the year. I spend a ton of time with family and I can really go crazy with my holiday dresses. I wore my striped dress which is more summer than anything. To make it work for winter I wore a sweater over it with tights. My gold shoes were my pick for the day. They added a little sparkle and I can't resist the bows!

Little Drummer Boy

I purchased this vest over a year ago and I never wear it. I was still in a frenzy from the Balmain military coats and I had to get something like it!  I know that it's a bit over the top, but it is so me. So many people told me that I looked like a drum majorette!  The buttons made me happy and red is the key to my heart.  I wore it with basic colors (black) so the vest could be shown off in all of it's glory.  I switched up my bag and carried my beloved Betsey Johnson.

Daring at Dusk

These times are a time of change for me. Along with change I thought it would be fun to switch up my style and have some fun with a casual look. I have been trying to master the ultimate casual look with an oversized top. I took oversized to a different level and I am actually wearing my husbands shirt. It is my favorite of his and I steal it every chance I get, this is just the first time I have worn it out.
Another part of the challenge was to "Rhe Style" the jeans I wore on Saturday. They are probably my favorite and I got them years ago from Old Navy. I like to wear them with a red velvet belt to dress it up a little. Overall the day was relaxing and fun! It was nice to take some time out to just chill before Thanksgiving weekend.

Pure Envy

I call this post Pure Envy because in the last week I have seen some amazing living spaces and I pretty much hate my apartment. This revelation has sprung me into looking at amazing photos of homes, thrift stores, craigslist, and any place that has great interiors and ideas. We are on a budget so I have to do this the economical way...and slowly. When we moved into our apartment we had nothing, now we have everything and really need to figure out how to put it all together. My dream is to have a home that feels like a home, lived in, but doesn't look like it! :) Here are some of my inspirations!

Love this because I like how everything is laid out and looks good on its own. I have a few ideas inspired by this.

I like the idea of putting your everyday items in pretty cups and things. I am definitely going to be thrifting for some nice pieces for our bathroom.

A glass table is my dream, but for now I have an idea of decorating my table and putting glass over it for a nice touch.

Makes me remember how much I need decorations.... This seems like it has a story and thats why I like it.

Vintage furniture is a must. Reminds me that we do have some nice pieces.

And, you never have too many things on the wall.

Black , White, and Leopard

After having just about the worst week of my life I was pretty exhausted, tired, and didn't event want to get dressed. I spent the week leaning on my husband, family, and my favorite/most comfortable pieces of clothing. I spent my Saturday which had a pretty rough start, but turned out well in high waisted jeans, black and white stripes, oversized sunnies, my new bag, and my Ferragamo's.

My Relationship With My Blazer

My life with blazers has been a short one. Our relationship is one that has more downs that ups! The blazer featured in this post was actually purchased about two years ago. Every time I clean out my closet it shows me its love to keep itself safe. After months of hiding, betrayal, and bad outfits it was shining in the closet when I went to pick out my clothes. I wore it over one of my favorite dresses and my Ferragamos. It made me feel chic on a day that wasn't my best. Who knew a little blazer could cause so much happiness. As of now, our relationship is on the mend and better than ever!

Stripes!

This look was inspired by the 1960’s tapered pant. I have always been a fan and I finally found a style similar that I love. I found them second hand for $8.00 this weekend and went crazy! They fit perfectly! I matched them with my plain cashmere sweater. Wearing a solid over printed tapered pants gives this a retro feel to me. It reminds me of vintage advertising and movies.

Husband Envy

We took a small shopping trip to Crossroads Trading Co. Sadly, earlier this week four of his shirts were dyed pink because of a hot pink scarf in the wash! We had to replace them and he found a blazer that is to dye for. It is a seersucker style and he won't take it off. I love it too! I am pretty envious of it because he looks so good and I wish blazers loved me too. It is going to be great for casual looks and for the upcoming holidays!

Railroad Trax

This week was pretty crazy! My husband went on a business trip and it was test mania at school. I spent a large part of the week studying, so it was nice to see Saturday! We are home for the weekend spending time with family and friends before going back to SF craziness. While visiting my sister we took some time to walk to the train tracks near by. I loved the tracks and they made a great location for pictures. It turned out to be a fun time and a nice start to a rejuvenating weekend.
